Scallier secures permit for fifth Romania retail park

Polish retail developer Scallier has received its latest building permit for the development of its Funshop Park network in Romania – for a retail park in the eastern town of Vaslui.

The permit is for the construction of a 9,975 sqm retail park, which is scheduled to come into use in 2022. More than 4,000 sqm of the space has already been leased, to such brands as New Yorker, Hervis, Designer Outlet and Zoo Center, while advanced talks with other tenants are underway.

This will be the fifth such centre opened by Scallier, following the openings of Funshop Parks in Roșiorii de Vede and Focșani last year and the eventual openings of two parks under construction in Turda and Timișoara. Scallier aims to achieve BREEAM certification for all its retail parks.

We are consistently rolling out our plan for the development of retail parks in Romanian cities, building a balanced portfolio that generates stable income based on contracts with recognised international and local brands. Our properties are tailored to local conditions as much as possible and are of great interest to retail chains: the space in our centres are leased before they come into use, so that when they are opened, we can offer consumers an interesting and complementary offer that meets their basic needs.
Wojciech Jurga, the managing partner of Scallier responsible for its development in Romania

Vaslui has a population of around 50,000.
